P112 LTP was one of the last batch of Volvo 850 T5's that were delivered to Hampshire Constabulary. The first V70 T5 being P115 LTP.
P112 LTP was based at Farnborough and Aldershot traffic divisions and had the call sign MA17. The car would have been used predominantly on the M3
This very car was driven by officers who are currently members of PCUK.
P112 was put up for sale in 2024 by a Volvo enthusiast in Kent. Having secured the car and taken delivery it was discovered to be in a far worse condition than had been advertised. Brakes were seized, Wheels warped, and the exhaust system was rotten.
The biggest problem was the engine which was losing oil in a big way. On inspection the block had a crack in it for the entire width of the engine.
This meant a replacement block or engine had to be sourced for a near 30 year old car. Luckily a short engine was found for sale in Romsey for the bargain price of £100 and so the entire engine was removed, rebuilt and re-installed.
At the same time a complete exhaust system was fitted, wheels refurbished and the entire braking system was replaced.
Sourcing the correct items for the interior was the next mountain to climb, and the headlining was sagging and water logged and this was sent away for refurbishment.
The car is scheduled for paint in early 2025 .
The car has suffered in all of the usual places and will require bodywork repair before the new paint, in addition the original holes in the roof had been poorly patched causing the issue with the rooflining.
P113 seen here in service was also one of the very last Volvo 850s to be received by Hampshire Constabulary.
